Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a great fundraiser to help promote awareness about gender violence and rape by walking a mile in high heels.
About the Walk
As described on their website, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes was formed in 2001 as a small group of men tottering around in heels to raise awareness about sexual violence. Today, the event has tens of thousands of participants internationally, raising millions of dollars for rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters, and other sexualized violence education and prevention programs.”
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes provides members of the community with a special opportunity to getus all (men and women)talking by improving gender relations and demonstrating that men are courageous and valuable partners in helping to make our world a safer place. All proceeds from the event will benefit Safe Alliance.
So come out and walk, next Saturday, August 24th at the NoDa Brewing Company. Registration is at 9AM and the walk starts at 10AM.
