Google To Bring High Speed Internet To Charlotte

BREAKING NEWS: Google has chosen Charlotte as one of the new locations for its super-fast Internet service, Google FullSizeRenderFiber, an industry source told the Charlotte Observer today. Googleestimatesthat with the project some interruptions will occur in our neighborhoods as fiber is installed underground and hung on telephone poles. However that being said, it sounds like this is a big break for Charlotte. City officials applied for the service last year. Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham aretwo out of nine metropolitan areasreceivingGoogle Fiber service.

Charlotte will be well-connected and according to Google Fiber business: Fiber will help put Charlotte on par with the fastest cities in the world, like Seoul, Tokyo and Zurich.” Charlotte Mayor Dan Clodfelter welcomesanother broadband competitor to Charlotte, saying “Competetion is good… the more service, the better.”
